Lend a hand

The goal of the project is to be financially self sustaining when we are up and running.  Right now we’re looking for a hand up – not a handout – to get this show on the road as soon as possible.  How can you help?

Come to our events

Ironically what this project needs is warm bodies.  We are in fundraising mode now so we will be holding a number of events to raise the rent.  Got a bone shaking idea for fundraising?  We’d love to hear about it – the crazier the better!  As soon as we can we’ll move on to running the museum well so that we can support other community groups in town rather than competing with them.

Bequests

What will the museum look like later?
A bequest is a gift left through a Will and an important way you can support Gympie and the Gympie Bone Museum. For example, this gift can be cash, assets, property or shares.
To leave a bequest to the Gympie Bone Museum, please quote our ABN in your will: 32615762304
If you are considering a bequest we invite you to contact us to discuss your intentions, and so we can recognise your intended gift during your lifetime if that is your wish.

We also suggest you speak with a solicitor or financial advisor to ensure your wishes are understood.
•Write a letter to the Gympie Bone Museum advising of your intention to make a bequest
•Provide a copy of the relevant extract from your Will
•Provide a confirmation letter from your solicitor

If you do not have a solicitor or need guidance in preparing a will then please use the resources on the Queensland Law Society website to assist you.

Donate the skeletons in your closet

Got something interesting in your paddock?   If you’ve got a pile of old bones lying around then we’d love to see them.  Right now we are not licensed to take any native animals, but any introduced species or domesticated animals are welcome.  We have the ability to clean the bones if they aren’t clean yet.  We are especially interested in anything unusual – evidence of tumours, old injuries or unusual birth defects – but we will consider anything you would like to offer.  This especially goes out to the man in the ute I was speaking to at Bunnings.  (I still won’t take your mother-in-law!)

Donate X-rays

We intend to have an interactive display of x-rays and light boxes and we’ve already had a lot of films donated.  We’ll remove any identifying information from them before they are used or you can cut that bit off yourself before you give them to us.  Clinical notes with the films are helpful too. Contact us about how to get your old x-rays to us.

Donate X-ray lightbox viewers

Radiology clinics and vet surgeries are increasingly upgrading to digital x-ray technology and are left wondering what to do with their old lightboxes.  We’ll give them a good home!  The more we have the better display we will be able to build.  Please get in touch about how we can arrange to collect them from you.

Donate money

Don’t clap – throw money! That’s what I told the mayor last time I saw him.  Not very subtle, perhaps, but I’m sure he’ll remember me next time we meet.  The goal of the project is to be financially self sustaining when we are up and running.  Right now we’re looking for a hand up to get this show on the road as soon as possible.  If there is a particular aspect of the museum or a favourite skeleton you would like to see your donation used for then please let us know.

Shop at the quARTz HuB

Run by the Friends of the Gympie Regional Gallery, the HuB has been very supportive of the museum project and we have a shelf of bone and skeleton products in there.  They also have a wide range of unique art and gifts handmade by nearly 50 Gympie artisans so it’s well worth browsing whenever you’re in the neighborhood.  The Quartz Hub is located at 8 Mary St next to the post office.

Use your Jawbone

Talk, talk, talk your jawbone off about the project to everyone you know.  Even if you think it’s the silliest idea you ever heard.  Even if you’re a bit creeped out by it.  Especially if you think we’re really using our head bones and on to a good idea to highway-proof this town or ours.  The more people that hear about us the better!
