The collection

Welcome to the study of Doktor Professor Yersinia Hergenflertz. As a well known and intrepid explorer have travelled the world in search of objects of beauty and interest. My particular interests are in bones and botany, and Epacridaceae are my favourite botanical species. In this research office you will find the results of worldwide endeavours to collect the weird, the wonderful, the scientific and pretty things that have grabbed my attention. Please take a look around...

Gympie Bone Museum💀
Join the team from Gympie Bone Museum on Saturday Join the team from Gympie Bone Museum on Saturday 28th of May for Death In The Afternoon.

We’ll be having a chat with Roslyn Melmeth about the funerary practices of ancient Egypt.

We all know about mummification from what we learned at school and what we see in pop culture. With new technologies we can now take a deep dive into the remains of these ancient peoples. What do their precious preserved bones tell us about lifestyle and disease in that culture and time?

Roslyn Melmeth is in her third year of a BA Arts with Macquarie University. She has undertaken courses in museum studies, archaeology of death, paleopathology and osteology. Her field of interest is the study of burial and funerary practises and the study of bone pathology. She has a special love for Egyptology and has participated in archaeological digs in Egypt. Ros is a registered nurse and still works part time while studying. Her goal after finishing this degree is to move into Bioanthropology.
