About the museum

The Gympie Bone Museum Project intends to be world class facility for the study and teaching of comparative anatomy as well as a tourism destination.

Still just the bare bones of an idea, the community response so far has been enthusiastic and overwhelmingly supportive. It’s time for Gympie to shine as a regional hub for science, innovation and tourism.

Board of Directors

Jaimie Cook & Debra Cook – Dissection Connection biological specimen supplies & Rockhoundz geology specimen supplies.  Our professional background is in science education and research and our current businesses supply schools,universities and medical training facilities. 

 John Cartwright – Power & Cartwright Solicitors with 23 years experience as a solicitor.  Chairperson of the St Patrick’s Primary School Board,  

Ben Ellingsen – Ellingsen Partners Accountants.  Ben has 6 years experience as President of Gympie Chamber of Commerce, is currently a member of the Cooinda Aged Care Centre and Regional Development Australia Wide Bay Burnett committees and treasurer of Cooloola Christian College Ltd. 

Kaye Silich – Media Loco property development and founder of the Rainbow Beach Spring Festival.  Kaye’s strength lies in her event co-ordination and community development skills. 

Jack Cole – Media Loco property development and Rio Tinto Superintendant of Operations and Maintenance.  Jack is a builder and also knows how to move large, heavy and difficult cargo around the world. 

Rae Gate – Gympie Regional Realty.  Former Gympie Regional Councillor with a strong background in service industry administration who has strong links with many community groups in Gympie. 

Museum for hire

we are in the process of developing packages for parties and events at the museum. We welcome the wackiest of ideas so don’t be afraid to ask if you have something in mind.
